And where do you go now, my Lovely?
I recently looked at a picture of mine; it triggered a lot of thoughts on how much has changed in me.....within me.... in keeping with the theme of Change, I used another format to share my musings:
She hadn’t done it for a while. How time had passed!
Is that really me? Bemused, she asked herself
I look different. And not just physically.
Change, as we all know, is the only constant.
Of course, she had changed into an older, wiser version
But was that all? Or was it more than just skin deep.
Her eyes gave away the answer, they spoke of all her experiences
Her tone reflected the wisdom that came with the salt n pepper look
Yet, it was not only that. There was more!
Just as there was serenity in her demeanor, as she stood there
There was this unmistakeable twinkle in her eyes
Like a young child ready to run off on a discovery of his own.
She was ready for another flight, to places that beckoned
The years had helped her lose her shackles, she felt light
It was not just homecoming and yes, it felt right
She was not preparing to slow down, though the pace would be different
The blank page showed her possibilities that she couldn’t wait to shape
There were new connections to be made, new places to explore
New experiences to be had, and a new roadmap to flow
It’s scary at times, she reminded herself. All that I know, I will leave behind.
I want to jump off the cliff, but do I still have what it takes to fly?
She had weighed out her options, yet didn’t want to overthink
Taking risks was part of her nature, that’s what had got her this far.
Despite her age and illness, she still loved a good adventure
After all, ships weren’t built to stay in safe shores!
Life had answered many of her questions, but she had more
And she had emptied her filled cup, now wanted again to pour
Whilst there was no clear route for the road ahead, doubts galore
Her Shepherd had never let go of her hand and she didn’t fear so
Jump off she will, with Faith and Good Hope. When the day is nigh.
Her old wings may flutter at first, but soon they will get her high.
And where do you go to now, my Lovely? Asks the wind of her
I don’t know yet, but I do know you will take me where I need to be, next.
