Let's bring back LOVE !

Like the bootcut jeans that are thankfully back in vogue, let's bring back LOVE!

I have said before and I repeat -  I believe the world has become too full of cynicism - doom and gloom is everywhere you look - our politics, economics, climate, social structures all seem to point southwards and it's no wonder we are scared and stressed or building coping walls with ample dashes of cynicism - what's the point anyways?

Oh,, there still are romances and flowers and cozy dinners and dates no doubt, but few and far in between - and even with those engaging in such romantic activities, I have realized that not all have the deep emotions that Love entails - a lot is done for social media and because that is kind of expected, if you are a couple.

This is not the kind of Love I am referring to - I am talking about some "old school loving" - where you held hands and watched sunsets, talking and connecting to each other about your dreams, your fears and your tomorrow. I am talking about the kind of love that never makes you feel alone, even if your partner is miles away. The simpleness and warmth of the love that allows you to just be with each other, probably do nothing noteworthy, yet feel happy.

I can almost already see the eye rolls of some of you - thinking, sure, sounds amazing but where is that Shahrukh Khan in real life? I will admit it is like looking for a needle in a haystack - I have seen the sad options my 25year old daughter gets on Tinder, Bumble and the like! Yet, surely it can't be all that bad out there - where are the "good" partners, even if few in numbers?

This is actually a symptom of the times we live in where Love is getting more and more rare! And we need to try and change that. Despite all the negativity and toxicity out there, let's try and bring in new waves of Love and Hope and all that makes us feel good.

And who said LOVE had to be romantic all the time? Think of all the many times you use the word "love" without any reference to a romantic partner - your morning coffee, your loving pet, your besties, your times at the spa, pampering yourself, your retail therapy, your favorite TV series or book .... I could go on. Don't you just "love" these as well and do they not get your feel good factor right back in? So let's celebrate all of these kinds of love and spread the vibes. I firmly believe that when we are able to do that, the universe will bring more "Love" into our lives and who knows, one could also be wearing a shiny armor?? :)

How much does it take to :

- invite a new joiner to join you for coffee one morning and get to know him / her

- dedicate a weekend morning to wake up early and take your dog to the beach or a long drive or a play date

- plan fun dates with your BFFs just so that you all can laugh till your guts hurt

- chat up with your favorite therapist at the spa whilst getting your nails done and hear her story, maybe randomly buy her some cake or a pair of earrings

- shop till your feet hurt in the mall over the weekend, and whilst there put together a care package for your gardener or security guard and see the surprised smile on their face

- surprise your grandparents / parents by taking them out for a fancy dinner date and watch them dress up with pride - hear their stories of simpler times without judgement

Again, I could go on but you get it, right? There are so many simple ways in which we can still celebrate being loved and loving back. And the warmth will fill your hearts.

Let's bring this Love back!

You may or may not find your romantic partner through this journey, but I can guarantee that you will find more love than you will give <3

Happy Valentine's Day to you all

XOXO
