Friends ... are like a breath of fresh air!

Last week 2 very close friends from India visited Dubai - and I took some time off to be with them. Two very different kind of people - one I have known since I was 19 years (and we are now 55!) and one that first befriended me when I moved to Dubai 18 years ago. Since they both lived in Delhi, I introduced them to each other and now it's one big happy group :)

At the end of the week, we were physically exhausted but mentally so refreshed and wanting more...

It made me realize how lucky I was vis-a-vis my friends - specifically my girlfriends. And I have friends ranging from Kindergarten to my last full time job. I am so grateful for my tribe that keep my life interesting and fun. Each of them are so different from each other and yet there's a strong bond that I share with them all. Despite each of us being separated by geographies or busy personal lives, we have always kept this bond alive by remaining in touch - thank goodness for technology! - and whenever we chance to meet, it's invigorating and .... like breathing fresh air after a long flight!

When together, we scold one another, we bitch about others, we share interesting individual experiences, we coach, we listen and offer different perspectives to each other's problems and then we shelf it all to just sit back and cackle over new or old memories together. Sheer therapy! Nothing, simply nothing can replace this. Period.

And I realize once again, how critical such friends are to our wellbeing - especially in today's world - as we turn older and as each of us gain "luggage" that slows us down.

Every time I see close friends celebrating life together on social media - either on a trip together or enjoying a simple gathering or simply a catch up over a meal - it fills my heart as I know there's purity in the emotions out there, the vibes are always sincere and happy.

I must add that I also see a lot of "friends" on social media where one can immediately sense the difference - but let's not go there for now.

To each of us out there that lead single lives or may be just caught up by the mundane, may we all have the opportunities to bask often in the warmth of true friendship.

Whenever life gets overwhelming, may you always have a friend or two or more - to rush to or connect with, and soon breathe easy again.

For those of us that are lucky to have such friends, may we always cherish them for who they are and what they bring to our lives.

So here's to each and every friend of mine ( and you know who you are ) that remain my tribe! I love you dearly and am honored that you are a part of my journey. Stay blessed!

In the sweetness of friendship let there be laughter, and sharing of pleasures.

For in the dew of little things the heart finds its morning and is refreshed.
