Little drops of blue .....
These are indeed difficult times.
There seems to be a common phase of tough times going around .....almost like a viral....affecting many that I know or see. Antibiotics are a desperate need but those available do not seem to be working effectively or even uniformly.
It may seem to be increasingly difficult to keep the spirits radiant or positive in these times ....for most lesser mortals like me....despite all our valiant efforts to look for the half-full glass.
But can we afford to give up? Do we actually have a choice? I think not.
Instead, during these times, I look more and more, for moments of joy, happy moments, moments that bring a smile to my face, moments that lift my spirit, peaceful moments. Yes, they may be really hard to find at times....but I believe that if one really looks long and hard, one can even find a needle in a haystack....you can still find small and simple pleasures that remain in your life, despite the gloom that seems to be seeping into the spaces within.
A long chat, even over Skype or Whatsapp, with a close friend of yesteryears, reminiscing about things or experiences that you once held dear, watching old videos or photos, chatting with your dear ones about something you look forward to, a text message that warms your heart, a beautiful sunset, a lovely melody that transfers you to another world, the aroma of your favorite food, someone telling you that he/she is happy because you are around in his/her life.........
All these little things and many many more are still around us; all we need to do is to keep looking for them consciously and deliberately. We need to collect them like there was a prize for the most number of collections.....like our lives depended on them....and maybe they do, in a way!
And then, like little drops of blue poured into clear water, the color will gradually permeate the clear liquid and lend its color to what used to be colorless....these little moments of joy will permeate our lives and lend its color to even the darkest night.......
So, in the midst of this roller-coaster ride we call Life, I continue collecting my "little drops of blue" - reliving joyous memories, creating new ones whenever I can, enjoying life's simple pleasures that don't come with a price tag......and these drops of blue shade those moments when my life and soul feel drained and colorless.
And each time, I thank the One Above for still giving me enough drops to keep me going and for teaching me the value of each and every precious drop.
Amen.
