Not all roads lead somewhere .....and that's fine!
When I was seeking admission for my Master's program, I was interviewed by a panel at the university and remembered being asked, so why do you want to do a Master's in International Relations?
I also remember the answers my friends had prepared for this seemingly "common" question....their long logical "justifications" for why they wanted to embark on that particular journey, their clear focus on the destination that they hoped to arrive at after the journey.
I clearly remember being a bit baffled by their focus and also remember that I had no such intentions ...I just wanted to explore this particular road, not because I expected it to lead me somewhere, but because it looked interesting and compelling at that point of time. I said as much to that panel of professors and remember their surprise .....but I made it to the program, so thankfully, something must have struck a chord! And I got educated ....Phew!
Point is.....I guess I have always been a tad more interested in the journey than in the destination.
Recently, I was reminded of this through an interaction with a close friend. Sometimes, there may be no finishing line in sight at all ....yet the travels have such a "feel good" factor that it doesn't seem like a waste of time and energy and purpose.
And how much of control do we really have on the finishing line, the destination, the purpose anyways? How many times do we set out expecting an end, working towards it, looking forward....and yet somehow Life has other plans for us and things may not always end up the way we had wished it to be.....
Does that mean we don't plan, we don't dream, we don't look ahead? Not at all, we must ...because that's what eggs us on, keeps us walking down a road that may be a bit blurred or foggy at the moment. So we must have that line of sight.....
However, Life also sometime presents you with things, options, relationships, associations that come into your life only to improve your being....their purpose is only to make the journey more memorable, more joyous, more happy...not to lead you anywhere.
We must understand which of our "connects", if any, are of this type.... so that we can adjust our focus specifically for that road, not on the finishing line, but only on the beautiful journey. And savor the moments that make it all worthwhile...
I understand ...now..
Not all roads need to lead anywhere ....some roads are just meant to be travelled and enjoyed for the happiness they bring..... just trust that they are there for a reason, a season or a lifetime... they have their own purpose, which you may or may not see.....just have that faith and keep walking.
Enjoy that journey, friends....

I agree....completely.
