Mind Spa
The mind is indeed, everything.....
So what are you doing to keep it healthy, cleansed and in peace?
Last night, I spent a lot of time simply focussing on my mind. The day was over and I was ready to retire ..... but my restless mind was not ready to sleep. No, there was nothing specific on my mind that was bothering me - just a mental sense of "hello, may I get some attention here please?"..... my mind indicated that it wanted to "talk" to me.....
And I let it .... I let it go through its motions, a myriad of emotions unfolded as I sat with myself for almost 3 hours .....it was almost like a well planned gym workout. I sat like a close friend of my mind - simply listening, laughing, crying, comforting..... just being there, understanding.
The wind played with my hair and I felt the affection in its ruffles; the waves crashed to the shores like the emotions that were coming forcefully into focus, only to fade away, in preparation for the next one; the music seemed to trigger memories, fears, hopes and dreams that wandered through my mind. I sat alone, in retrospection, and felt the world around me, engulfing me in its warmth, reminding me that while we are always alone, in reality we rarely are.....
It was magic. I came back to my bed, smiling and feeling so peaceful.... and slept like a baby.
That was my Mind Spa - my time spent in focussing what my mind wants, giving it free reign to wander and feel whatever it wants to, letting the energies flow through my being and ultimately focussing on what really matters.....
Our lives these days, are stressful. Even without any specific circumstances that could make matters worse, we have enough that takes a heavy toll on our minds, our bodies, our souls..... and I believe, we owe it to ourselves, to take care of them all.
Our wellbeing is very important and only we are responsible for it. And by wellbeing I mean, both physical and mental. I know of a few people who are huge gym enthusiasts - who take great care of their physical wellbeing - but shudder at the thought of focussing as much on their mental health..... I think that's sad. We need both, but I also believe the skew needs to be more on the mental side as we grow older.... and start to seek answers ......
So...
What is your Mind Spa?
When and how often do you connect with your mind, with yourself ?
To understand its concerns, its qualms, its aspirations, its crossing paths with your heart, its hopes for the future.....To ensure it is well and rejuvenated enough to help you move ahead on your journey through this beautiful life....
I believe we all owe it to ourselves...... because .....
You are precious. Treat yourself well.
Love, always.
