Memories....
As is the norm these days with social media enthusiasts and I am no exception, any event is considered incomplete till you have uploaded its pictures on Facebook and have reacted to the "comments" and "likes"!!!
I just got back from a short and sweet getaway with friends and family (that feel more like friends) and as I am watching the pictures of the trip on FB for the nth time...it reminds me why pictures are so important to me, and possibly to many others like me....it recreates memories of so many small moments that have brought us joy at some stage or the other.
For example, these pictures remind me now of
- the blazing heat as we drove down to Ras Al Khaimah when the temperature outside soared over 40 degrees
- of the sound of my current favorite Hindi soundtrack on the car audio system
- of how good the iced coffee at the gas station felt after a long drive in the afternoon
- of the utter confusion of unknowingly parking right in front of the hotel and calling them up to ask for directions, assuming we are lost
- of the many cups of tea and coffee, while snuggled into the comfortable sofas at the hotel
- of the sheer child-like joy of wading around in knee deep water and getting drenched under the bucket at the water park
- of the innocent "borrowing" of unclaimed shades while in the water
- of the warm breeze while waiting for our burgers after the park experience ...and the sounds of our stomachs growling
- of the taste of rum and coke
- of the heaviness of the air as we walked around the corniche in the middle of the night....the heart to heart connection
- of the sight of the kids curled up at all the wrong places - tired but glad to break away from routine
- of the warmth of the morning sun ...the joy of banter with friends....the feeling of the wet grass on which we sat to chat the morning after
- of the thoughts of "when next" as we packed and got ready to leave.....
As I always say - moments make this Life worth living and memories keep us going....
All of us on this short trip surely have our own "issues" to deal with, our own luggage, and yet we could come together to share a beautiful experience that recharged and rejuvenated.....
Such is life, I guess - almost everyone here has some luggage. The trick is to look for those moments and memories that make life worth living and the luggage worth carrying.
I am thankful for being able to add more photo albums to my Facebook timeline ...for creating more memories ...that will remind me of good times....when the going gets tough!
Amen.
